Rep. Campbell Procures Funding for District 108 Programs
Tallahassee, Fla. — Despite a difficult budget outlook and testy partisan politics during the appropriations process, Representative Campbell was able to secure funding for numerous programs that are necessary for her legislative district.
Working with leadership of the House and the appropriations committee, Rep. Campbell's tenacity paid off as she diligently pursued funding for El Portal, Barry University, Miami Dade College, and the Florida Association for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean and the Americas (FAVACA).
Rep. Campbell worked with Miami Dade Public Schools to help hold them harmless from massive cuts and destructive program changes. She hand carried a request for a waiver from SREF (State Required Educational Facilities), the building code for public schools. Although all of Rep. Campbell's requests were not taken into consideration, she fought to prevent debilitating cuts to public education.
"I came to Tallahassee to represent District 108 in all aspects of the legislative process but none as important as safeguarding programs and providing for projects that my district so desperately need. That is why I fought against all the partisan squabbling and worked behind the scenes to bring home funding in this tight economic climate."— Rep. Campbell
